About Our British Sheepskin Rugs
British rare breed sheepskin rugs are for buyers who want something genuinely individual. Rather than a standard dyed fleece, these hides come from native British sheep breeds - animals raised on UK farms with a coat shaped by their breed and environment rather than a dye bath. The result is a rug with natural markings: mottled creams and browns, natural greys, dark tips with lighter roots, broken patterns that vary from hide to hide.
The colours are inherently earthy - natural browns, taupes, creams, warm greys and the occasional near-black. If you're looking for a brown sheepskin rug or a natural grey with real depth and variation, this is the collection to browse. These are also the most ethically transparent rugs in our range - sourced specifically from UK farms, a genuine by-product of British agriculture.
Available as single, double and larger multi-skin rugs. For the full range of large British rare breed pieces, check our large sheepskin rugs collection.
Genuine, Ethically Sourced British Sheepskin
Every hide in this collection is sourced from farms operating to the highest welfare standards - a genuine by-product of the meat industry, not farmed for the hide alone. If you want to understand more about how we source, our ethical sourcing policy covers this in full.
Caring for British Rare Breed Rugs
Shake and brush regularly to maintain the natural fleece. Most British rare breed rugs can be hand washed or gently machine washed cold. Because natural markings vary, avoid harsh detergents that can strip or alter the natural colour. Full care guidance in our sheepskin rug care guide.
