Genuine Reindeer Hide Rug
A genuine Finnish reindeer hide, ethically sourced from Lapland and hand-selected in our UK warehouse. Every reindeer skin we sell is unique, with its own natural markings, tones, and character.
Why Choose a Real Reindeer Rug?
Reindeer fur is softer and more plush than you might expect. It has a deep, dense pile that feels closer to luxury velvet than a typical animal hide. It’s also surprisingly warm, thanks to the hollow structure of each hair, which traps air and insulates naturally — the same adaptation that allows reindeer to thrive in Arctic winters.
Every hide is different. Colours range from white reindeer hide tones through cream, grey, and rich dark brown, so each one sits differently in a room and works with different interiors. Because these are natural products, no two reindeer pelts are the same shape or size. The hide in the photo is the actual one you’ll receive.
Ethically Sourced Reindeer Hides from Finnish Lapland
Our reindeer hides come from the Arctic regions of Finland, where reindeer herding has been part of daily life for the Sámi people for thousands of years. The Sámi use every part of the animal for food, clothing, and craft, and all our hides are a by-product of the meat industry. Nothing is wasted, so you can enjoy your reindeer hide knowing it has been responsibly sourced.
How to Use Your Reindeer Skin Rug
One of the best things about a reindeer hide is how many ways you can use it. The deep pile and natural insulation make it incredibly versatile — equally at home in a stylish living room or layered into a cosy bedroom setup.
As a Floor Rug
Lay your reindeer skin rug beside the bed for something warm to step onto on cold mornings, or place it as a statement piece in a low-traffic living area.
As a Reindeer Hide Throw
Drape it over a sofa or armchair to add texture and instant warmth to a living space. The natural drape and plush pile make it a beautifully tactile accent piece.
As a Reindeer Hide Blanket
Fold one across the foot of a bed or use it as a luxurious lap blanket on cold evenings. The hollow-fibre fur traps warmth like nothing synthetic can match.
Outdoors and On the Move
Take it camping, keep one in the campervan, or use it as a seat cover that stays warm even in an unheated room. Because reindeer fur is naturally insulating, it works just as well outdoors as it does inside.
The Natural Character of a Real Reindeer Hide
These animals roam free across Arctic tundra, so you may find the odd scar, a small hole, or patches where the fur sits shorter. That’s simply what a real reindeer rug looks like, and it’s part of what gives each one its own character. Some shedding is also normal with deep pile fur, particularly in the first few weeks.

Reindeer Hide Care
Reindeer hides are low maintenance, which is part of their appeal. Shake yours outside occasionally, and if the fur gets flat, a gentle brush with a pet comb or wide-toothed comb will bring it back. There’s no need for specialist cleaning. Just keep your hide away from heat and prolonged sunlight:
- Do not place on floors with underfloor heating
- Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods
- Do not place directly in front of an open fire
- Do not leave in conservatories
Reindeer Hide Sizing
Every reindeer hide is a slightly different shape, so we measure each one by length and group them into four sizes. Width varies naturally from hide to hide.
- Small: up to 119 cm
- Medium: 120 to 129 cm
- Large: 130 to 139 cm
- Extra Large: 140 cm+
Please select your preferred size and colour from the available options.
